Safety

General and safety information for employees and students working in the Laboratory for High Power Electronic Systems

Visitors and other non-instructed persons (facility management, external workers, ...) have to be accompanied by an instructed person (HPE staff instructed for the particular laboratory of interest).

General

Careful handling of laboratory equipment and respect towards each other are essential basics for successful and enjoyable working/researching and are requested for all HPE members. Besides using common sense, the following rules have to be respected:

  1. Working in any of the laboratories of the HPE is only permitted after appropriate instruction by an authorized person: Group leader (Jürgen Biela) or safety responsible (Florian Krismer).
  2. Mutual respect and responsible everyday interaction are followed by everyone (see also ITET, ETH web pages).
  3. Everybody is requested to notify defect equipment, inappropriate behaviour, and other bad states of affair.
  4. When consumables run out, please refill or ensure that it is refilled.
  5. Eating and drinking in the labs is generally not permitted. Exception is for plain bottled water.
  6. Equipment that is not used should in general be switched off.
  7. Everyone keeps its working environment clean and tidy.

Safety

We are working in an environment with potentially dangerous equipment such as high voltages, high currents, lasers, and chemicals. It is thus important to work carefully and to respect the safety regulations.
